Ukrainian authorities have declared the commencement of mass production for an innovative domestically developed interceptor drone to strengthen its air defences. Three initial producers have started manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to set up production lines, Ukrainian military officials announced this past Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Proven in Battlefield Conditions

The drones utilize a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” designed to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and demonstrated effective “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of producing up to 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Assault on Kyiv Described as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Moscow's most recent assault against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and brutal” following six individuals lost their lives and dozens wounded in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Russia intends to produce as many as 120,000 glide bombs this year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official disclosed, including 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that is capable of targeting additional urban centers. Russian forces have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs daily, with last month’s average daily usage being approximately 170, according to official military statistics.

Kyiv's Strikes Focus on Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports on Friday – equivalent to two percent of global supply – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its forces had launched domestically produced missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to diminish the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”
