The Streaming Platform is Producing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed instalment that players explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it has a reputation for embracing chaos and insanity with the same glee, all while presenting engaging, politically driven stories. No wonder then that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose work have embodied all of those things.

What to Expect

Inspired by Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' structure by featuring a different backdrop and group of personalities in subsequent series.

Key Producers

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for another season, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, placing faith in us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their steady belief and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style series. Each game is a variation of a idea, the same way every series of Fargo is a variation on a premise,” noted Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the essence of people through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common unconventional, visionary sensibility to the screen.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
