The network's Leading Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Substantial Renewal for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the network launched a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. During a period often defined by dark humor, this show's sincerity resonated deeply and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa ample opportunity to develop the world of the Campbell family. The series follows three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and spread the word," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Executive Acclaim

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He thanked the fans who found the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you got behind this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about watching this endearing family go about their daily lives.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to help comedy break out of its current layer of irony. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

What Comes Next

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that very evolution. At a minimum, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to bask in the warm glow of the unique Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is available for streaming on HBO Max.
