Outrage as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.

A renowned South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation struggling with rampant crime.

Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.

Police said the 40-year-old entertainer was approached by three suspects, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.

The purpose of the incident remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have taken place, according to authorities.

Authorities said that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building near the city center landmark.

"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," authorities stated.

CCTV footage reportedly depicted a individual with dreadlocks and dressed in what looked like a security uniform opening fire on Stock before fleeing.

The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries across the street.

Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and it was not a robbery during the assault.

In a communication, the broadcaster he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his magnetism, warmth and quick humor, adding that his influence "will endure".
