Fans Demand Custody of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal supporters of the pop star are calling for that a person who jumped a fence and seized the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating video reveals the Australian man bypassing camera operators and lunging at Grande while the actors walked down a yellow carpet accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "free after being detained", though court documents indicated that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is not clear if he was formally accused.
History of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed features clips of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," stated an Instagram commenter, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Well-being
Several supporters accused Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said a further message on Instagram.
Some attendees also faulted event staff at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded social media platforms to block Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Numerous of fans had congregated in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.
