Brian Eno Encourages Public Help to Send Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.

A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Surprise Victory"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a moment to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a very special place for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “The essence is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced after a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The impressive roster of performers appearing on Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.

Final Touches and Availability

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The song showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These resources will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property said to be destroyed or damaged.

“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is first of all making this cause better known and showing that another narrative exists.”

The track is launching on Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from later in the month.
